Bali visa and entry requirements
Most visitors can enter Indonesia with a visa on arrival, but the rules depend on your nationality. Here is what you need before you fly to Bali, with links to the official sites so you can check your own case.
- Visa on arrival
- IDR 500,000 per person, 30 days
- Bali tourist levy
- IDR 150,000 per person, once per trip
- All Indonesia arrival card
- free, from 3 days before arrival
- Passport
- valid for at least 6 months

These rules were checked against official sources on 24 October 2026. Entry rules change, so check your nationality on the immigration website before you book.
Which visa do you need?
It depends on your passport. There are three situations:
- Visa-free entry (up to 30 days): citizens of the ASEAN countries and a short list of others, including Timor-Leste, Hong Kong, Macau, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Suriname, Türkiye, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Kazakhstan, Macau and Belarus were added in July 2026.
- Visa on arrival (VoA): citizens of 97 countries and territories, including the European Union countries, the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- Visa before travel: everyone else applies online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id or through an Indonesian embassy before the trip. The usual choice for a holiday is a single-entry tourist visit visa.
The official lists are on the Indonesian immigration website. Check your own nationality there.
Visa on arrival and e-VOA
| Visa on arrival | Details |
|---|---|
| Price | IDR 500,000 per person, including children and infants |
| Length of stay | 30 days |
| Extension | once, for another 30 days, before the visa expires |
| Online (e-VOA) | apply at evisa.imigrasi.go.id at least 48 hours before departure, pay online by Visa, Mastercard or JCB card (card fee added) |
| At the airport | buy the regular VoA at the counter on arrival |
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive, and you should carry a return or onward ticket. Officers can ask for it.
- An e-VOA issued online must be used within 90 days.
- The e-VOA saves you the payment queue at the airport. Use only the official site; look-alike sites charge extra fees.
- In August 2026 the immigration authority announced a planned rise in the VoA fee. No regulation or start date had been published by 24 October 2026, and the official site still showed IDR 500,000.
All Indonesia arrival card
Since 1 October 2025 every passenger arriving at an Indonesian international airport or seaport, including Bali, must fill in the All Indonesia arrival declaration. It replaces the separate immigration, customs and health forms.
- Fill it in on allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the All Indonesia app, no earlier than 3 days before arrival.
- It is free. Customs has warned about fake websites that charge a fee.
- Every traveller must be declared, including children. A family can submit together.
Bali tourist levy
Foreign visitors to Bali pay a tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per person, children included, once per trip.
- Pay on the official Love Bali portal or app before you fly, and save the QR code on your phone (a screenshot helps when the signal is weak).
- Holders of KITAS or KITAP residence permits, diplomatic and official visas, transport crew, and student and family-reunification visas are exempt. Golden visa holders and some other visa types must apply for the exemption in Love Bali at least 5 days before arrival.
- Nusa Penida, Lembongan and Ceningan have their own fee for foreigners: IDR 25,000 per adult and IDR 15,000 per child aged 4–13. Since 1 September 2026 it is collected cashless, and the main attractions charge an entrance fee on top.
Customs: what you can bring
- Alcohol and tobacco per adult: 1 litre of alcohol and 200 cigarettes or 25 cigars or 100 g of tobacco. Anything over the limit is destroyed.
- Cash of IDR 100 million or more (or the equivalent in other currencies) must be declared. Not declaring it is fined at 10% of the amount.
- Phones: a foreign SIM card can roam during a holiday. If you put a local SIM into a phone bought abroad, the mobile operator registers it temporarily for up to 90 days. For longer stays, phones must be registered with customs.
- Drugs are punished extremely severely in Indonesia. Trafficking can carry the death penalty.
Overstaying
Overstaying your visa costs IDR 1,000,000 per day. Overstays of more than 60 days lead to deportation and an entry ban.
Checklist before you fly
- Passport valid for 6 months, return or onward ticket.
- Visa: check your nationality; e-VOA at least 48 hours before departure, or VoA at the airport.
- All Indonesia arrival card within 3 days before arrival.
- Bali tourist levy on Love Bali.
- Travel insurance with medical cover.
