How to choose a cooking class in Ubud
If you want to see a local market, choose a morning class. If your morning is already planned, a later class lets you cook on the farm without the market. Before booking, check the timing, transport and menu above all.
| Choose | Good if | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Morning class with market | You want to see the market and have a free morning | Start time and meeting point |
| Later class without market | You have other plans in the morning | Whether it is offered and when you get back |
What you do in the class
Our selection includes a Balinese cooking class on an organic farm run by Bali Farm Cooking School. It takes place on a farm outside central Ubud. The programme includes a farm tour where you pick ingredients, cooking Balinese dishes and a shared meal at the end. You take the recipes home with you.
The market is part of the morning programme only. You cook in a group, and the menu comes in a regular and a vegetarian version. What exactly is included depends on the option you choose, so read it when booking.

How you get to the farm
The farm is not in central Ubud, so the transfer is part of the day. Depending on the option, return transport from a meeting point in Ubud is included. Do not count on hotel pickup unless the offer clearly says so.
If you are staying outside Ubud, you need to get to the meeting point yourself and on time. The class takes up a large part of the day, so do not combine it with another long excursion. Save Ubud's sights for another day and plan them with our article Ubud in one day.
Vegetarian menu, allergies and who it does not suit
Besides the regular menu, a vegetarian one is available. If you want a vegan version or have an allergy, write it in your booking. Changes are not automatic, so wait until the provider confirms them.
Before booking, check:
- the start time and return time,
- the meeting point and whether transport is included,
- whether the market is part of the programme,
- the menu and your own dietary needs.
The class is not suitable for wheelchair users. If you are going with children, ask the provider what the minimum age is.
How to plan the class
The class works best on a day when you are in Ubud and have no early departure or night trip ahead. If you are planning a Batur hike, put the class on a different day. If you are flying in that day, plan it only after you have settled into your accommodation.
Cancellation terms depend on the option you choose, so read them when booking.
